NDIS participants

180Wellbeing is a registered and approved National Disability Insurance Scheme service provider. This means that our services are approved for delivery under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which is a new, federally initiated and administered way of supporting people with a permanent and significant disability.

The NDIS provides funding to participants to purchase a range of supports aimed at increasing their independence, inclusion, and social and economic participation.

Out of the 3 types of reasonable and necessary supports recognised by the scheme, our offerings mainly fall under capacity building supports. These are supports that enable participants to build their independence and skills.

Choice and control

2 core principles on which the NDIS is founded are choice and control for the client. We have found that our inherently consultative approach is very much in alignment with these key directives from the NDIS.

Ways in which we engage with NDIS participants

1. Individuals that manage their own NDIS packages

We work with clients and their Area or Support Coordinator towards fulfilling the goals set in their NDIS plans. All of the work we do with the client is directed, monitored and measured through a formal service agreement between ourselves and the client.

2. Organisations that manage packages on behalf of clients

In some cases, clients are deemed as unable to manage their own plans. This is when an organisation called a plan manager steps in to ensure that the funds available to assist a client are used for the clients’ best interests, taking into account their wishes, goals and unique needs. 180Wellbeing works collaboratively with plan managers to help build the capacity of clients using evidence based psychological, speech and occupational therapy approaches.
