Mental health first aid

This course trains you to provide initial support to someone who is developing a mental illness or experiencing a crisis. The intention is to keep both you and that person safe until the appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

You will learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help is effective, and how to approach a crisis situation.

Participants will receive a Mental Health First Aid manual and are eligible to become an accredited mental health first aider.
